Official eBay Guru Greg Kusch organized a fundraiser to benefit the K-9 Unit of the Beverly Hills Police Department featuring items donated by sports and entertainment celebrities, as well as items donated for sale on eBay from the local community.

Lieutenant Joe Lombardi of the Beverly Hills Police Department explained, "The Beverly Hills Police Department's K-9 Unit appreciates the support of the community ... Our K-9 Unit is an integral part of our crime fighting team and has a stellar history in the City of Beverly Hills. This benefit will greatly enhance our efforts to serve the citizens of our fine city. Thanks to all participants and organizers."

"We're so pleased to be a part of the Beverly Hills business community. We felt it was appropriate to reach out to law enforcement, and especially the K-9 unit, for whom we feel a special affection. We're looking forward to welcoming the entire community ... to support the police in these uncertain days when the security of all Americans is of special importance."

Autographed celebrity donations included [contributions] from Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, musician Cyndi Lauper, Dan Castellaneta of "The Simpsons" and actor Jim Belushi.

Baseball superstar Jose Canseco personally delivered an autographed baseball bat to the Beverly Hills police department to show his support for the auction and fundraising effort.

All proceeds from the sales and all eBay and shipping related fees were donated as part of the effort. The fundraiser was a success due in large part to the K-9 officers, who play such a large role in the crime fighting efforts in the City of Beverly Hills. In particular, Officer Robert Bloore took several hours of his own personal time to be there and help the eBay team.
